Tschandala. Berättelse fran 1600–talet.
First Swedish edition: a Gothic tale, set in Skane thirty years after the Swedes took the province from the Danes in 1658.
Tschandala (the word is taken from Nietzsche and designates the lowest caste in India), first published in Danish translation in 1889, tells the story of Swedish academic Andreas Torner, who rents a room at a dilapidated manor house in the 1690s.
We find six copies in the US (UT Austin, BPL, Harvard, NYU, Princeton, SFPL), and three in the UK (BL, Bristol, Cardiff).
