We are delighted to be returning to exhibit at this year’s Firsts Hong Kong rare book fair, which will take place at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum from Friday 5 December to Sunday 7 December 2025.
Ahead of the fair we are pleased to share a list of eighty books, manuscripts, paintings, photographs, and ephemera, chiefly from or about China and the East, that we will be bringing. These include the first polychrome woodblock book printed in China; a pioneering dictionary of Cantonese printed in early Hong Kong; rare and unrecorded Chinese missionary texts printed at Beijing, Jiujiang, Wuhan, Fuzhou, and Macao; photographic albums depicting Guizhou, Mongolia, Tibet, Manchuria, and Macao; a fine watercolour of 1840s Macao painted by one of Hong Kong‘s earliest architects; a hand-coloured woodblock world map by ‘the founder of Japanese geography’; sketches and photographs of India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Korea; and one of the last manuscripts of Marco Polo’s Travels in private hands.
Alongside these we will be taking with us a selection of highlights in English literature and history, early Continental printing, and medieval and Islamic manuscripts.
We hope you enjoy the list and look forward to seeing many of you at the fair.
