Are you passionate about rare books, and have wondered what it would be like to have a career in the trade? We are now accepting applications for our 2026 Internship Scheme, which allows you to gain experience of bookselling at one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious antiquarian book dealers.

About us
Bernard Quaritch Ltd sells rare books, manuscripts, and photographs relating to the history of ideas, science, travel, and literature in both modern and ancient languages. We are based in Bedford Row, London, just north of Holborn but our private and institutional clients span the globe.

About you
You have a keen interest in the book trade, are knowledgeable about one or more of our subject areas, are a careful researcher, and are comfortable in a business environment. You can speak and write English fluently and ideally have a working knowledge of another language. You must have the right to work in the UK. Previous experience with rare books is not essential, but is desirable.

About the role
Working alongside our booksellers, you will provide research and cataloguing support, learning how to handle and catalogue rare books and manuscripts. You will gain experience in the day-to-day aspects of the industry, alongside assisting with routine administrative duties, such as answering the telephone and receiving visitors, and helping with packing, deliveries, photography. Our premises covers five floors, with several flights of stairs, and you may be required to lift and carry medium loads as part of your role.
