One of several closely related printings of a very odd work, in which the ultra-Protestant Thomas Berney (1815–1895), rector of Bracon Ash, provides testimonials of a series of prophetic visions, largely relating to untimely deaths, given to him courtesy of ‘the visible personal manifestation’ of Christ and of the Seven Angels of Glory. Among the unlikely revelations Berney was given was the death of his housekeeper, some burglary and several cases of arson, a train accident, a rainstorm, and a near miss in a firearms test (with a folding diagram of the passage of the bullet). As no one since John the Baptist has had such incontrovertible visions, surely the Commons must listen to his views on Ireland?
