Manuscript on paper, 12mo, pp. [50] + blanks; neatly written in brown ink, in a single hand, on ruled accounting paper, a printed match report pasted to each page; a little dusty with a few small stains, but generally well preserved; in a limp straight-grained purple roan stationery binding, initials ‘L. I. C. C.’ scratched into front cover; rather worn.

A pocketbook record of matches for the season of 1880, compiled by William Hooper, Captain of the seemingly otherwise unrecorded Liverpool Independence Cricket Club.
The volume includes newspaper cuttings of reports of weekly matches by both the first and second teams between April and October, played at various locations around the North-West. It was a successful season for both teams: the first won twenty-two games and the Prize Cup Competition, drawing one match and losing only two; the second team won thirteen, drew two, and lost three.
