4to, pp. xv, [1 (blank)], 23, [1 (blank)], with 103 plates (on 96 leaves), of which 47 printed in colour and tipped in behind tissue guard with printed caption; a very good copy in publisher’s red buckram over bevelled boards, lettered in gilt with gilt vignette to upper board, top-edge gilt, blue printed endpapers; sunned, a little rubbed and very slightly bumped; copper-engraved armorial bookplate to upper pastedown, bearing motto ‘vincit semper veritas'.
Limited edition, numbered 576 of 1500 copies. A fine collection of prints by the great sporting artists of England, from Henry Alken and Thomas Rowlandson to Francesco Bartolozzi, accompanied by an essay by Ralph Nevill (1865 – 1930).
