De Greville’s en de Lorimers. Twee Familie-Tafereelen, naar het Engelsch ...
First edition in Dutch of ‘Susan Grenville; or Irresolution’ from Pride and Irresolution (1850), translated by J. Oudijk van Putten; ‘Walter Lorimer’ is a much shorter sketch at the end of vol. II.
Ponsonby (1817–1877), niece of the novelist (and lover of Byron) Lady Caroline Lamb, published ‘a large number of romances for the library patron’ (Sutherland), of which The Discipline of Life (1848) was the first. Pride and Irresolution was published as a ‘new series’ of stories in sequel. Both were published anonymously but her name appears on the title-page here, which also claims her as the author of Geertruida and Blanche Evelijn (actually by Elizabeth Missing Sewell).
