First edition – the symbolist poet Valery Briusov’s critical notes to volume I of the Academy edition of Pushkin’s Works (1899), which had included his Lycée poems 1812-17.

The Academy text had been published without access to MS 2364 at the Rumyantsev Museum, and Briusov prints the variant readings here, along with three poems that had not appeared in 1899: ‘Elegiia’ (‘Ia videl smert’’), ‘Unyn’e’, and ‘N. I. Krivtsovu’ (two versions).
