First edition of this catalogue of molluscs and shellfish in the collection of Antonio and Giovanni Battista Villa.

Brothers Antonio (1806–1885) and Giovanni Battista Villa (1810–1887) demonstrated a similar passion for scientific collecting at an early age, starting a joint collection of molluscs, insects, and shells in 1825.  Their lifelong scientific partnership, dedicated to various paleontological, conchological, entomological, and geological pursuits, would lead them to become founding members of the Società Italiana di Scienze Naturali (in 1857) and of the Società Entomologica Italiana (1869).  Their collection would later be given to the Museo Civico di Storia Naturale in Milan.

OCLC and Library Hub together finds three copies in the UK (BL, NHM, and Oxford Museum of Natural History) and three in the US (American Museum of Natural History, Field Museum, and NYPL).
