Rosenbach, Widener, & the Titanic

Our specialists Alexander Day, Andrea Mazzocchi, Donovan Rees, and Katherine Thorn were pleased to join Dr Alexander Ames on The Rosenbach Podcast to discuss the connections between Bernard Alfred Quaritch, A.S.W. Rosenbach, and their mutual client Harry Elkins Widener.  The conversation considers the relationship between the two booksellers, the library of Harry Widener, and the response to his death with the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, as well as reflecting on changes in British and American book collecting, especially for young collectors, in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

The Quaritch Connection: A Conversation with London Booksellers at Bernard Quaritch Ltd. about their Titanic Connection and the Rare Book Trade Today is now available online or can be viewed on YouTube.  The full program of podcasts can be found on The Rosenbach’s website.
